The convicted individuals: Ismail Abdulbasit, Oladipo Victor, Ibrahim Oluwatosin, Ayantola Segun Samuel, Musbau Waris Atomo, and Babalola Rasaq Oluwadamilare, pleaded guilty to separate one-count charges brought against them by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Among the charges, Abdulbasit was accused of fraudulent impersonation, while the other defendants faced similar charges related to cybercrimes.

After reviewing the facts of the cases and tendering statements and evidence recovered from the suspects, Justice Anyadike ordered Oluwatosin, Oluwadamilare, and Atomo to pay a fine of N200,000 each, while Victor, Abdulbasit, and Samuel were fined N100,000 each. Additionally, the judge ordered the forfeiture of all phones recovered from the convicts to the government.

This ruling marks the latest in a series of convictions resulting from the arrest of 48 students of Kwara State University (KWASU) in connection with internet fraud. With these latest convictions, a total of 30 individuals have been sentenced for their involvement in such criminal activities.
