Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed his hearty congratulations to Mrs. Kemi Nandap, the newly appointed Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), hailing her selection as well-deserved.
In a congratulatory message, Governor Abiodun praised Nandap’s exceptional professionalism, noting her outstanding skills, knowledge, and experience that position her to lead the NIS to greater accomplishments. Nandap assumed the role following the retirement of the former Comptroller General, Mrs. Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, on February 21, 2024.
The governor emphasized that Nandap’s appointment is a testament to her remarkable dedication, exemplary leadership, and invaluable contributions to the service.
He expressed confidence in her ability to excel in overseeing critical aspects of immigration policies, border control, passport issuance, and related matters.
Governor Abiodun, highlighting Ogun State’s strategic position as a gateway with approximately 185km bordering Benin Republic, called for a collaborative relationship between the NIS and the state government.
He expressed eagerness to work together in addressing challenges and opportunities, emphasizing the crucial role of the NIS in maintaining security and facilitating lawful movement across borders.
“Your appointment comes as no surprise to those who have had the privilege of working closely with you. Throughout your career, you have consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to public service and an unwavering passion for ensuring the safety and security of our nation.
“As the Comptroller General, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of managing and overseeing the operations of the Nigeria Immigration Service. This is a crucial role that requires a deep understanding of immigration policies, border control, passport issuance, and other related matters.
“I have no doubt that you will excel in this position and bring about positive changes that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Nigeria Immigration Service,” the governor said.
“As the Governor of Ogun State, I look forward to collaborating with you and the Nigeria Immigration Service in addressing the various challenges and opportunities within our state. Ogun State is strategically located and serves as a gateway to other parts of the country with a long border with the neighbouring Benin Republic.
“Therefore, the work of the Nigeria Immigration Service is of utmost importance in maintaining security and facilitating lawful movement across our borders,” Prince Abiodun said.
