NYSC DG Inaugurates Projects, lays foundation of 10-room hostel block

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah, today inaugurated five projects at the NYSC Kogi State Orientation Camp in Asaya.

The projects are nine-room hostel accommodation for Camp officials constructed with the support of the National Directorate Headquarters; Quarter Guard; fish and meat dryer/parabolic solar dryer; podium and pavilion.

Speaking on the occasion, Fadah reiterated his commitment to improving the security and general welfare of Staff and Corps Members.

He lauded the Kogi State Coordinator, Mrs Mofoluwaso Williams, for her commitment to improving the standard of facilities at the Orientation Camp, adding that a conducive environment would enhance the performance of camp officials and the Corps Members.

The Director General also laid the foundation of a 10-room accommodation for middle level officers in the Camp.

Addressing Corps Members, including 431 originally deployed to the Federal Capital Territory, Fadah urged them to execute projects that would improve the living condition of their host communities during the service year.

He enjoined them to serve as good ambassadors of the NYSC in their places of Primary Assignment, adding that the Scheme would not condone any act of indiscipline.

In her remarks, the Kogi State Coordinator, Mrs. Mofoluwaso Williams, poured encomiums on General Fadah, thanking him for the National Directorate Headquarters’ assistance in the completion of the projects.

She added that different stakeholders within the state, including NYSC Staff and Corps Members, also assisted in various ways.

“Our collaboration with Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute, Kwara State, is pursuant to the third focal area of the Director General’s policy thrust, which is on improvement of the gains of the NYSC Ventures and the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.

“The construction of big Parabolic Solar Dryer 6 by 6 metres and 2 units of 25kg Smoking Klin for drying of grains, fish and meat will boost the NYSC Ventures and SAED programme,” she added.

Also addressing Corps Members at NYSC Ondo State Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko today, Fadah advised them to respect the culture and traditions of their host communities.

He called on those of them that would serve as polling officers during the 2023 general elections to abide by the electoral laws and resist the temptation of undermining the credibility of the elections.

The Director General also urged the Corps Members to use the social media positively, for the promotion of national unity.

In her brief, the Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs Victoria Nnenna Ani said all the 1,501 registered Corps Members comprising 697 males and 804 females were well behaved throughout theOrientation period.
