Zulum Launches Empowerment Package For Thousands Of Constituents, Directs Drilling of 600 Boreholes

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Wednesday launched a mega-size empowerment package for thousands of constituents in Konduga town. The empowerment was sponsored by a member of House of Representatives representing Dikwa, Konduga and Mafa Federal Constituency, Engr. Mohammed Ibrahim Abubakar, popularly known as “Abuna”.

The package consisted of 300 water pumps for irrigation farmers, 300 grinding machines, 300 sowing machines, 10,000 writing materials and N45m cash.

Zulum at the launch, praised representative Abuna for the bold life touching support to the people of Konduga.

Representative Abuna said the empowerment was part of his continued effort to compliment the the state government in supporting fellow citizens in his constituency.

APC state chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, commended the rep and urged the constituents to remain supportive of the APC administration led by Governor Zulum.

APC chieftain and a prominent elder in Konduga, Senator Kaka Malam Yale commended the lawmaker.

Meanwhile, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum while addressing the people of Konduga, announced that he had given directive for the drilling of 600 tube-well boreholes for irrigation activities in communities across Konduga Local Government Area.

The Governor revealed that 65% of funds for the drilling has been released, assuring that work will soon commence.

Zulum’s announcement came few weeks after he distributed irrigation and farm implements worth millions of naira to farmers in parts of Konduga.

Governor Zulum also announced plans to resettle displaced persons of Malari, Dalwa, Abbari Burin and other communities in Konduga, given the return of peace.

The Governor explained that reconstruction works were being undertaken in some of the communities, while assuring that work will soon commence in other communities where it has not yet started.

Similarly, the Governor stated that, a staff training college in Konduga which was temporarily relocated to Maiduguri at the peak of the insurgency will soon be returned. He also said the road linking to the district head’s palace will be constructed before the end of his tenure.

Zulum was accompanied to Konduga town by the state APC Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, state assembly members from Dikwa, Mafa and Konduga as well as his Chief of Staff, Prof. Isa Marte Hussaini, some commissioners and top government officials.
