LASU VC Seeks Collaboration With Nigerian Army On Security

The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello has solicited for the continous support of the men of the Nigerian Army, Ojo Cantonment, towards the security of lives and properties of staff and students on the university and Ojo environs.

She made the request when the Commandant, Army Ojo Cantonment, B.S Abdulrahman, paid a courtesy visit to her office on the second floor, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo on Wednesday.

The VC, in her remarks, said that the presence of the Army Barracks opposite the University’s gate serves to make members of the University Community feel more secured in the area.

“Your presence in the university environment should normally make us feel more secured. I am glad at the assurance that you are with us. I look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship between our institution and the Cantonment. I am counting on your support and you can count on mine.”

The Commandant, in his remarks, said that he was at the VC’s office to congratulate her on her appointment and to assure her of his support.

“I am here to assure you that we are here to support the security of our students and also to let you know that we will not relent in building a good relationship with the students.

“We will not disappoint you, ma”, he concluded.

The meeting also had in attendance Dr. Habeeb Sanni, Chairman, IBILE Forum; Dr. Olawale Lawal Acting Director, PDS programme, Epe; Dr. Oseni Afisi, Acting Director, Directorate of Special Interventions and Dr. Animashaun Bash.
