2020 Floods: NEMA Kickstats Distribution Of Agricultural Relief Materials To Kogi Farmers

In a latest action to mitigate the losses suffered by flood victims in Kogi State, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of agricultural inputs to about 8,540 farmers who suffered flood-related challenges in 2020.

Kogi State Deputy Governor and Chairman, State Emergency Management Agency, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja who performed the flag-off at the State Agricultural Development Project (ADP) Warehouse in Lokoja, forewarned of fair and effective distribution modalities, citing that monitoring systems have been put in place to supervise the exercise.

He appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for his continued show of concern to sufferers of man-made and natural disasters, expressing pleasure with the distribution plans targeting thousands of farmers in the State.

Whilst congratulating Mr. Mustapha Ahmed on his appointment as NEMA Director-General, Chief Onoja stated that the Kogi State Government, under the watch of Governor Bello, has gained recognition for its high interests in transparency and accountability, charging the Agency to ensure the actual victims of flooding get what they deserve.

Earlier, Team Leader of NEMA to Kogi, Alh. Ahman Labaran disclosed that the agricultural inputs which include bags of NPK fertilizers, organic growth enhancers, herbicides, pesticides, water pumps, sprayers, maize, yam, and rice seeds are scheduled for farmers across the 9 affected LGAs of the State.

In attendance was the State Deputy Chief of Staff, State Commissioner for Agriculture, and his Environment counterpart, and other government functionaries. Others were the Executive Secretary, SEMA, representative of the MD, ADP, Kogi State, amongst others.
