Oyetola Reiterates Commitment To Qualitative Education

…pledges necessary support to enhance academic excellence

The Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, on Wednesday reiterated his administration’s commitment towards accelerated growth at the state owned University.

He stressed that the quest for academic excellence through infrastructural advancement in the citadel would be supported wholeheartedly by his government.

The Governor, made the pledge at the Osun State University’s main campus, in Osogbo, while inaugurating the 15 newly completed projects by the University, as part of activities marking the 10th Convocation of the institution.

Some of the projects inaugurated include : Multipurpose Complex at Osogbo campus, Multidisciplinary Laboratory Complex at Osogbo campus, Laboratory Complex at Ipetu Ijesa campus.

Motion Ground at Osogbo campus, Motion Ground at Okuku campus, Laboratory Complex at Ipetu Ijesa campus,104- capacity Students’ Hostel at Okuku campus, 104- capacity Students’ Hostel at Ejigbo campus, 104- capacity Students’ Hostel at Ikire campus

Others were 104 – capacity Students’ Hostel at Ipetu Ijesa campus,104 -capacity Student’s Hostel at Ifetedo campus, Multipurpose Complex at Okuku, 500- capacity Computer Based Test Centre at Osogbo campus, Works, Maintenance and Physical Planning Building at Osogbo campus, 500- capacity Twin Lecture Theatre at Osogbo campus and 104- capacity Students’ Hostel at Osogbo campus, among others.

The projects were executed by the University and supported by the Federal Government through Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, and the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy, NEEDS, as well as First Bank of Nigeria and Unity Bank.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Benedict Alabi, described the projects as remarkable development, saying the feat was a massive fulfilment of the mandate and vision of excellence handed over to the institution by her founding fathers.

Governor Oyetola, while commending the leadership of the school for giving guidance and direction to the institution equally lauded the support of the sponsors of the projects.

He said, “As a government, we are proud that UNIOSUN is our core partner in our resolve to provide adequate, equitable and quality education for our children at all levels, to power our dream of providing capable hands to radically transforming Osun and achieve sustainable development.

“On behalf on the Government and the good people of Osun, I extend deep gratitude to the sponsors of these projects: Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy, NEEDS, First Bank of Nigeria, Unity Bank and UNIOSUN.

“These projects will undoubtedly go a long way to further improve the academic and infrastructural standing of the University as well as well as boost the welfare of the students.

“TETFUND and NEEDS have been critical partners in the development and enhancement of education in Nigeria and Osun. We are grateful to these two entities for always partnering with us to attain our dream of providing the best education to make our children competitive in a globalised world”.

The University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola, had earlier in his address opined that the execution of the projects was made possible through the support of the Governor and the ingenuity of the University.

He, assured that the University would not relent in the bid to reach the top and to prudently utilise all available resources for the growth of the institution.
