Prospective Corps Members of the 2021 batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course exercise ongoing in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos State, have been urged to respect the culture and traditions of their host communities in the duration of the service year.

Speaking to the corps members during the Course’s Traditional Lecture, organized for the corps members, to familiarize them with the traditions of Lagos, Mr Dotun Fashina who appraised the culture of Lagos, said corps members must learn to respect people and respect the nuances of their host communities.

Mr Fasina who warned the corps members of some severe repercussions of failing to honour one’s community’s traditions, advised the corps members to stay put in their houses when some traditional rites like oro are undertaken as such have in the past proven to be of dire consequences.

While encouraging them on the premium the yoruba people place on respect, Mr Fasina said, greeting as an integral form of respect must be learnt by the corps members so as not to be entangled in any communal controversies which might lead to an unpleasant service year.

Insightfully, Respect for one another, Respect for old age, Religion as a way of life, and Moral and Communal living, along other factors have continued to be the driving forces behind the African society overtime, right from the pre-colonial times to the present age.
