Prospective Corps Members deployed to Ogun State have been charged to imbibe the Culture of their host communities in order for them to live in harmony with members of their host communities.
The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo land, Oba (Barr) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi gave this charge while delivering a traditional lecture to the prospective corps members at the Gateway International Stadium Sagamu Ogun State.
The paramount ruler said Ogun State is a homogeneous State made up of the; Egbas, Ijebus, Yewas, Aworis, Eguns and Remos, adding that the people of the State are peace loving and hospitable.
He noted that some of the traditional festivals observed in the State include; Ogun, Oro , Igunuko Agemo, Sango and new Yam Festival.
Oba Ajayi allayed the fears of the corps members as he clarified that there are no longer extreme cultures in Ogun State where they use humans as sacrifice.
” Cultures are evolving, things are changing, feel free to marry our people and settle down with them” the paramount ruler said.
He recalled memories of his service year in Anambra state where he did his youth service, noting that the service year gave him the opportunity to learn the Culture and traditions of the people of Anambra State.
While commending the NYSC Ogun State Coordinator for her sterling leadership qualities, he promised to continue to support the Scheme to make the State Conducive for the Corps Members.
Oba Babatunde Ajayi commended Corps Members in Ogun State for being law abiding and good Ambassadors of the Scheme, adding that he has not received any negative report about a single Corps Members since his ascension of the throne four years ago.
The Akarigbo who congratulated the Propective Corps Members for being called up into the he noble scheme, gave his royal blessings to the entire Camp Community after his lecture.
A high point of the event was the presentation of gift as a token of appreciation to the paramount ruler.
