Ogun Assembly Speaker, Oluomo Applauds Housing Construction At Kings Court

As part of its resolve towards providing legislative frameworks meant to improve on the existing conducive environment to further attract more businesses and boost investment opportunities through a centralized safety guidelines and regular power supply, members of the Ogun State House of Assembly have unanimously passed the State Safety Commission Law, 2019 and State Energy Board Law, 2020 into Law.

The bills with long titles: “H.B 21/OG/2020- A Bill for a Law to Make Provision for the Establishment of the Ogun State Safety Commission and Other Matters Connected Therewith” and ”H.B 51/OG/2020- A Bill For a Law to Establish The Ogun State Energy Board to Coordinate Programmes and Initiatives to Improve Energy Generation Supply and Drive Socio-economic Development in the State and For Connected Matters”, were passed during a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, following the Committees’ reports presented by the Chairman, Committee on Environment, Haruna Wahab, his Works and Infrastructure counterpart, Abayomi Fasuwa respectively.

The Chairmen thereafter moved the motion for the adoption of their separate reports which were seconded by their Deputies, Adeyemi Ademuyiwa and Oludaisi Elemide, supported by the Whole House through a voice vote, after which the bills were later read and adopted Clause- by – Clause by the Committee of the whole House.

The motion for the third reading of the bills were later moved by the Majority Leader, Sheriff, seconded by Honourables Oludaisi Elemide and Ganiyu Oyedeji, while the Clerk and Head of Legislative Services of the Assembly, Mr. ‘Deji Adeyemo, did the third reading of the bills before the members.

Responding, Speaker Oluomo, thereafter directed that the clean copies of the bills be transmitted to the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his assent.

It would be recalled that the Assembly had in the previous week engaged concerned stakeholders during a public hearing on the two bills, who expressed optimism that the legislations were capable of coordinating all issues relating to the establishment of independent power plant for the State and ensure a uniform safety measures for compliance by all categories of industries in the State.

In another development, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has described the construction of the 31 housing units (en-suite) at the Kings Court Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta as ‘fantastic projects” that meet all standards anyone can get anywhere in the world.

Oluomo made the description while leading his colleague-lawmakers on the assessment of the projects at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, explained that the location, quality of works and infrastructure remain the best anyone could crave for in housing, while imploring the people of the State to take advantage of the projects in meeting their housing need.

Conducting the lawmakers round the projects, the Managing Director/ Special Adviser, State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC) said that the 31 units of 5-bed were 80% completion and another ongoing 64 units semi-detach were on going.

He noted that the projects were a combination of traditional and modern requirements for optimal advantage.
