I Can’t Breathe, Tribute To George Floyd

Date:

Reading time: 2 Minutes

Theorized Yorubas can’t breathe too, under the suffocation of Herdsmen killings of Yorubas on their farm lands.

We’ve always had the knee on our neck …

America is too far, let us mind our own business here first, instead of our politicians, Governors and Senators to stand their grounds and make laws to address the injustices in our land, such as outrightly banning of open grazing in Nigeria, they are cowardly and sheepishly supporting the establishment of RUGA settlements in Yorubaland because they want to continue to be politically relevant and have unrestricted access to Aso Rock Villa.

Their Uncles, Aunties and relatives are being killed by Herdsmen right in their backyards and all a Yoruba professor can tell me when we met at somewhere to discuss the menace was that some tribes in Nigeria are “Normadic” in nature, so they must be allowed to roam the entire country with their cows even when that is causing the deaths of their hosts.

The appointment of our Voltron, the Àmòtékùn, with the veterinary Doctors kept getting postponed, rescheduled and extended while the killer invaders kept having a field day.

America is far, let our solidarity begins with our brothers and sisters in the remote areas who are being killed over their land for attempting to resist cows from damaging their farms.

As we are praising and admiring the courage of Black Americans to challenge the inhuman treatment being meted out to blacks in America by the police, let us all begin to raise our voices to all injustices going on in our own backyard.

Our hypocrisy and docility stinks to High Heavens.

I’ve been seeing several hundreds of sharing and re-sharing, Tweeting and Re-Tweeting of the broad daylight gruesome killing of George Floyd in America but back home in our country, Police men often go away unquestioned for more dastardly acts and all our protests will end on social media in less than 72hours.

Violent protests are getting outdated and we don’t have to be violent before we can register our grievances with the authority.

NIGERIA is burning and sinking by the day.

The is no better time for all hands to be Deck to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

May the soul of George Floyd rest in peace. Aamen

Deji Ogundimu.
