27-year-old man Kills Own Child in Jigawa

The 27-year-old man, Ashiru Abubakar recently arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command for burying his new born baby alive at Jan-biri village in Birnin Kudu local government area, has opened up on he decided to bury the baby.

He said the child was born out of wedlock by his ex-wife, Hussaina Yusuf, who he had divorced.

He narrated that after collapsed of their three-year-old marriage, they later had an affair which resulted in an unwanted pregnancy.

“The incident happened when one day we met and had a canal knowledge once which accidentally led to the pregnancy,” Ashiru stated.

“She requested money to terminate the pregnancy which I couldn’t because I don’t have money at that time.

“She threatened to kill herself because she don’t want to deliver the baby which I discouraged her and she decided to sit on the baby immediately after she give birth.

“We then both agreed to take the baby to orphanage house after she delivered and to my surprise I got the information that her brother is trying to take her to my parent’s house.

“On receiving the information I then decided to sneaked to her house at about 3:00am and took the baby without the mother’s consent and dug shallow grave and buried the baby alive to bury my shame.”

He however revealed that it was in the morning she raised the alarm about the baby’s disappearance and reported the case to police that she was suspecting me.

“Police had succeeded in rescuing the new born baby alive and rushed him to the hospital for medical attention,” he said, adding that he had regretted his action and had accepted the baby as his own child
