The Zamfara State Police Command has banned political rallies in anticipation of the Supreme Court ruling on the governorship election in the State.

The ban was issued by the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Dalijan, hours before the highly awaited judgment.

It aims to maintain law and order in the state, particularly in light of the Supreme Court’s forthcoming decision on one of the petitions filed by Governor Dauda Lawal.

Dalijan emphasized the need for peace and cautioned supporters of both the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, against making statements that could incite violence.

Recall that the petition seeks to overturn the verdict of the Court of Appeal that invalidated Governor Dauda Lawal’s victory and mandated a rerun.
