Youth Integral To Economic Development – Ogun Deputy Gov.

For the improvement of any Economy, the youths have been identified as the Engine room for development who must be given appropriate considerations be it in policy making, job provisions or manpower advancement

Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele gave this submission in her key note address during the Young leaders Entrepreneurship Conference with the Theme; Development and Entrepreneurship in 2020: Implications for National Development Information in the 21st Century, a connecting tool for entrepreneurs in Industry, innovation and Infrastructure. (SDG Goal 9)

She said the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration in Ogun State having Identified this, is passionate about youth empowerment and their all round development particularly because they are leaders of tomorrow and a key player in nation building.

Salako-Oyedele noted that this administration launched the Techhub on assumption of office as part of its efforts to reduce unemployment among the teeming youths in the state and dimensionally identify individuals with appropriate qualifications which potential employers of labour, organisations and industries can poll from considering the state is the Industrial hub of the nation.

According to Her, ‘Apart from the job portal, the current administration also put in place other provision such as the Tech hub to help improve IT skills in order to make youths more employable, introduced the Agricprenuer schemes under the Ministry of Agriculture, which has so far benefitted more than 20,000 youths in various Agricultural Empowerment projects and Vocational Training scheme done in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) amongst others’

“ There is a saying that someone can stay under a shade now, because someone else had planted the tree, we have discovered that youth Entrepreneurship has direct impact on poverty elevation, capital development and a balanced society, this is why we created The Ogun state youth empowerment scheme aimed at training and certifying, 10,000 youth artisans yearly” she said

Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele also added that governments continous investment in education is to further improve the lives, promising that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the generality of the youths of Ogun State will be the better for it.

Earlier in his remarks, convener of the Youth leaders Entrepreneurship Conference, Mr Tosin Adesile said, the Conference was aimed at taking the gospel of Entrepreneurship closer to the youth and people in general.

He informed that the pilot Edition was held in 2019 in Ogun State, noting that young intending Entrepreneurs require grooming , mentoring, identifying the right ecosystem for businesses to thrive and on what exactly to invest in.

The conference which was held physically and virtually had in attendance, Ogun State Deputy Governor Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele who was the key note speaker, commissioner for Information Lagos State Gbenga Omotosho, Actress Toyin Alausa , Actor Jide Awolana and Lekan Fatolu.
