On the occasion of the State’s celebration of “World Tourism Day”, the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa Kingdom, Oba Olusayo Akeem Ogungbangbe has expressed his enthusiasm and joy to warmly welcome visitors, especially tourists.
This was contained in a statement personally signed and made available to newsmen this Tuesday.
The traditional council of the town has reportedly made the required arrangements, according to the Iloko kingdom’s monarch, to assure the program’s success as planned by the Osun State Tourism Board.
Oba Olusayo Ogungbangbe said that it is past time for the state to join the league of states and nations that are expanding their economies through tourism while speaking on the theme of the program, “Tourism and Green Investment.”
“Osun is fortunate to have many well-known tourism attractions. To bring prosperity to our state, we must make these places appealing and invest in them. By providing the essential supports to expand the state’s tourism industry, we can increase employment possibilities, strengthen our economy, and raise the standard of living for our citizens. This is true of everything from waterfalls to rivers of historical significance to sacred traditional sites”.
When thanking the Osun State Tourism Board for selecting Iloko-Ijesa as the location for this year’s “World Tourism Day,” Oba Ogungbangbe referred to tourism as a catalyst for eradicating poverty, creating jobs, and fostering social harmony.
He continued, saying that through protecting the holy and historic sites in our various towns, we must continue to protect our history into the new millennium.
In addition to wishing visitors a calm stay, Oba Ogungbangbe noted that sons and daughters of Iloko-Ijesa are people of good character, unquestionable honesty, and unassailable dignity who are constantly prepared to make sure visitors, no matter from where they come, enjoy their stay.
