The Chief Medical Director, of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo has harped on the need for Lagosians to eat healthy diets always.

Prof. Fabamwo, who spoke through the Acting Director of Clinical Service and Training, Dr. Olatunde Odusote, gave the advice during a courtesy visit to his office by the staff of the Dietetics and Nutrition Department of LASUTH as part of activities marking the 2022 World Food Day.

While commending the members of the Department on behalf of the hospital management for the advocacy, the CMD emphasised that the sensitisation campaign is very important because people need to be educated and enlightened on the advantages of healthy diets and the disadvantages of unhealthy diets on the body.

He enjoined the team to use the occasion as an opportunity to further raise awareness on the benefits of consuming nutritious meals and sundry issues that can reduce the rate of malnutrition, especially in children, encouraging them to be actively involved in participating in more clinical activities.

Earlier, the Head of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition, LASUTH, Mrs. Titilayo Omodudu, said: “World Food Day is focused on different aspects of food security and agriculture, climate change and biodiversity”.

She implored everyone to ensure that they eat healthy meals that can help reduce the risk of getting exposed to diseases and infections.

Other activities scheduled for the day by the campaign team include Health Awareness Walk, Nutritional Talk on Non-Communicable Diseases, Anthropometric Check and Dietary Counselling amongst others.
