The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the immediate payment of N70,000 as the new national minimum wage for staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
A statement issued on Monday and signed by the Acting Head of Civil Service for the FCT, Grace Adayilo, indicated that the approval was made to alleviate the challenges faced by FCTA workers.
Adayilo revealed that the minister had also approved the payment of three months’ arrears to all FCTA staff, effective from November 2024.
“This decision reflects the minister’s commitment to improving the welfare and well-being of our workers,” the statement added. The move is seen as part of Wike’s dedication to ensuring the betterment of staff within the administration and is expected to motivate them further in supporting the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda, led by President Bola Tinubu.
The Acting Head of Service also expressed gratitude to the minister for his timely approval of staff allowances and claims, acknowledging the swift action as crucial to maintaining staff morale and ensuring the smooth running of the administration.
