The Ogun Police Command on Tuesday promised to provide adequate security for residents of the state during and after Christmas and New year celebration.
DSP Bimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said this in a Press Release made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Oyeyemi stated that large scale and elaborate tactical as well as covert Policemen have been strategically deployed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson across the length and breadth of the state with a clear mandate of ensuring crime free Christmas and New year celebration.
He stressed further that men of special units such as SARS, PMFT, Tactical Response and Intelligence Units; Anti Kidnapping and Cultism sections have also been deployed to nip in the bud any violent crime that may want to rear it’s ugly head as well as a 24 hours surveillance patrols have been ordered around the various worship as well as event/recreation centers across the State.
Oyeyemi thereby used the opportunity to remind the general public of the law banning the use of fireworks and noted that anyone caught selling or throwing any type of fireworks would be made to feel the weight of the law.
Oyeyemi advised members of the Public to alert the Police whenever or wherever they noticed any strange or suspicious faces, gathering or movement in their domain in order to assist the security agencies to perform their duties to the optimal level as the security is everybody’s business.
“And on the part of the police, we are going to provide adequate security across the length and breath of the state so that good people of the state can celebrate the Christmas and New year without any hitches,” he said.
