The General Manager, Ogun Public Works Agency, Arc. Gbenga Akintola, has assured that all the 26 constituencies in the State would be treated fairly in the cause of discharging its duties on road rehabilitation and maintenance.
Akintola made the appeal while hosting members of the House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure, led by Hon. Abayomi Fasuwa, who were on an oversight visit to the agency in Abeokuta.
He said the agency required adequate funding to perform its duties of maintaining roads across the State effectively, while seeking the support of the lawmakers in the allocation of fund during budget process.
He said that the agency had six zones which were cited in Sagamu, Abeokuta, Ilaro, Ijebu Ode, Ifo and Ado-Odo/Ota to cover all parts of the State.
Akintola stated that the agency would organise maintenance training for the Department of Maintenance in the Local Government Areas on the rudiments of road maintenance to complement its efforts at the grassroot level.
“We will cover all the state constituencies in road maintenance. We are going to try our best within the confine of the fund available.
“We have decided to use as much as possible local supply in our materials and I have told our engineers to always first identify with leaders of communities we are going to work,’’ Akintola said.
Responding, the Chairman of the committee, Mr Abayomi Fasuwa, assured the agency of the Assembly’s support towards ensuring effective performance of its duties.
Other members of the committee who visited the agency on the budget performance appraisal include Oludaisi Elemide, Atinuke Bello, Sikiratu Ajibola, Bashir Abdul, Kemi Oduwole, Yusuf Adejojo, Akeem Balogun and Olakunle Sobukola
