Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested Sunday Joshua Martin, a skit maker popularly known as De General at his residence in the early hours of Wednesday the 12th of January, 2021.
In an online video, some armed men dressed in NDLEA uniform had stormed De General’s residence, demanding entry to search his house.
While trying to arrest him, the skit maker was seen protesting the violation of his fundamental human rights. Before his arrest, he had gone live on Instagram and was seen confronting the officers.
A few minutes into their conversation, he was slapped and his phone destroyed which ended the live broadcast.
Reacting to the incident, in a press statement released by the Agency’s Spokesperson Femi Babafemi, he stated that the agency acted on credible intelligence which led to the arrest of three suspects and seizure of illicit substances.
Babafemi said the suspect during interrogation had confessed to the ownership of the illicit drugs like cannabis Sativa, Tramadol, and some other paraphernalia substances found in his house.
He emphasized that the trending video showing the skit maker being slapped by a narcotic officer only tells half of the story as that incident occured when he and his friends tried to disrupt the search of his residence.
