The alumni of one of the oldest schools in Nigeria, Abeokuta Grammar School, Idi Aba says it will sustain its legacy and mould more young people who would make positive impact across the world.
Established in July 1908, the Old Boys Association (AGSOBA) over the weekend commemorated the 112th Founder’s Day Thanksgiving Service on Zoom App and Facebook LIVE.
The virtual gathering was as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. However, old friends interacted while all members gave thanks to God Almighty.
The Guest Preacher who is the Provincial Pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Ogun Province 11, Pastor Olusola John in his exhortation admonished the Agsoba family worldwide to be grateful at all times despite the Covid-19 outbreak.
Pastor John enjoined them to uphold the principles, customs and values that distinguish Abeokuta Grammar School from others.
He also emphasized that the Agsoba family must be committed to the objectives and vision of men of honour who founded the great citadel of learning.
In his goodwill message, the President – General, Distinguished Agsoba (Hon.) Lanre Laoshe appreciated all members, noting that though regrettable they could not hold the usual fanfare, technology still brought them together, assuring that God’s willing year 2021 would be bigger and better being a double celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first Alumni Association in Nigeria as well as 113th Founder’s Day of the School.
Some of the participants who joined from the UK, US, Canada, Lagos and Abeokuta include Agsobas Bayo Ajayi, Adekunle Akinsanya, Rasheed Bakare, George Adepegba, Adegboyega Gbadebo, Lolade Shodunke, Abiona Morolari and a host of others.
