The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), in collaboration with Penpushing media, is organizing a training workshop for Nigerian journalists on Combating Hate Speech to Build the Culture of Peace in Nigeria.
A statement by the Founder, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, stated that the online training is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, between 10am and 12pm.
The statement added that participants, to be drawn from across the six geo-political zones of the country, will comprise correspondents, editors, news editors, media managers, publishers as well as communication lecturers and information managers.
A veteran journalist, who is also an expert in criminology and Associate Professor, Dr. Ayodele Johnson, of Lead University, Ibadan, is to be the moderator for the two hours workshop, while some media gurus will be facilitators.
The facilitators/speakers at the training include Oba (Prof.) Yemi Obalanlege, Olota of Ota, Stella Jibrin, Director, Research/Documentation, Nigeria Press Council, Owolabi Oladejo, Proprietor, Metropolitan Broadcasting Services and Babakura Abba Jato, Commissioner for Home Affairs Information and Culture, Bornu State.
Other speakers are Oloye Lekan Alabi, a veteran journalist and former Group Managing Director, Public Relations, Odua Investment, Comfort Umanah, Managing Director, Redemption 101.5 fm, Abak, and Chris Isiquzo, President, Nigeria Union of Journalists.
The communiqué drafting committee members are Eddy Ademosu, Oluremi Olugbenro and Femi Shodunke, who are all tested media professionals.
