The Gombe State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal has set July 9 for the continuation of hearings on petitions brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the outcomes of the local government elections held on April 27, 2024.

The PDP has contested the victory of Sani Haruna and Muhammad Adamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Gombe Local Government chairman and deputy chairman respectively, alongside the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GSIEC). Additionally, the PDP candidate in Billiri Local Government has separately challenged the declared winner, Mrs. Egla Idris.

The PDP’s petition, disclosed to the press, seeks various remedies, including a declaration that the April 27, 2024 election conducted by GSIEC was void due to allegations of corrupt practices, irregularities, and legal violations.
