A devastating incident occurred in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, over the weekend, resulting in the death of a woman at the hands of her husband.
The couple, who resided at Christ Avenue, Adebayo area, engaged in a fatal fight on Friday evening or Saturday morning, depending on the source.
According to eyewitnesses, the couple had sent their older child on an errand and locked themselves inside their apartment with their younger child, aged five. A heated argument ensued, allegedly sparked by the husband’s accusations of infidelity. The situation escalated, leading to a violent confrontation where both parties suffered stab wounds from sharp objects, possibly a knife or broken bottles.
Neighbors attempted to intervene but found the door locked. They eventually gained entry by removing parts of the ceiling and discovered the couple with severe injuries. The wife was unconscious and rushed to the hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
The husband, a law enforcement agent, is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital under police supervision. The incident has been reported to the authorities, and an investigation is underway.
A source revealed the tragic details of the incident, saying:
“They locked themselves up inside their apartment with their younger child of about five. The man confronted the deceased over allegations that she was cheating on him, a fight ensued leading him to stab his wife to death. At that moment, people had come to separate the fight only to meet the door to their apartment locked. When they could not break the door open, some of the people around removed some of the ceiling to gain entry into their apartment. They met the deceased and her husband with injuries all over their bodies. The woman was unconscious and was immediately rushed to the hospital but she gave up the ghost before they got to the hospital.”
