The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has visited Ogun State as part of his national visits across the country has he declares his bid to run as president in 2023 general elections.
During the visit which took him first to the palace of the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebu Land, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu said the visits became imperative as the traditional rulers were the custodians of the traditional institutions and their roles in decision making cannot be over emphasised.
He informed that having intimated President Muhammadu Buhari of his ambition and consulted widely, the next step was to meet with traditional rulers and elders for their prayers and wise counsel.
According to him, ‘I have come to show myself to the traditional rulers in Ogun State in order to formally inform them of my presidential bid and seek their royal blessings’.
Receiving him at the Awujale’s palace in Ijebu Ode, on behalf of the State Ogun Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele said it was a thing of joy that the revered statesman was in the state, noting that she was there with other top government officials to receive him and ensure fruitful deliberations.
She wished the National Leader a successful outing in the state and in his political ambition.
Responding the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, said himself and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had come a long way adding that the visit was a reunion of sort as he went down memory lane.
He prayed for the success of his aspiration, saying Nigeria was at a stage where it needed great leaders who are poised to take it to the promised land.
