Segun Sowunmi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is confused regarding his government’s economic decisions.

Sowunmi expressed these sentiments during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.b

While discussing the government’s recent challenging economic measures, Sowunmi stated, “I am so optimistic and I say it to people who ask me if Tinubu can’t figure out these things, I wonder who can. I think that, one, he is confused. Two, to be smiling at Mele Kyari, an explanation has to be made then.”

Sowunmi further questioned the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) strategies, asking, “I don’t understand what the CBN people are doing about the value of the currency. Are they telling me that by their imagination, by floating the currency, Nigeria’s currency will become toilet paper?”

He also expressed frustration over the pricing of petrol, questioning, “What exactly constitutes the science and commerce of pricing petrol when you are refining in your country?” He mentioned that he has been researching how to address these pricing issues and intends to share his findings once completed.

In response, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, defended President Tinubu, asserting that he would demonstrate his commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges. Morka noted, “This president will not only fix the challenges but will demonstrate he means business by showing massive improvements in the long run, in a sustainable manner.”

He also reminded the public that President Buhari spent eight years rectifying the issues left behind by the PDP’s sixteen-year rule.
