President Tinubu has promoted Olufemi Oluyede, the Acting Chief of Army Staff, to the rank of Lieutenant General in a brief ceremony at the State House on Tuesday.

Commending Oluyede’s commitment, the President noted that this promotion reflects the high standards upheld by the military.

During the ceremony, Tinubu praised the Nigerian military’s dedication, courage, and patriotism, emphasizing the pivotal role they play in safeguarding the country.

He said, “It is both an honour and a privilege to decorate you today. This recognition reflects your commitment and service to the Nigerian military, which speaks volumes through your exemplary record.”

Tinubu also acknowledged the military’s contributions to national stability, adding, “We recognize all that you have been doing to ensure the country is safe and stable.”

The President reiterated the government’s support for the armed forces and assured them of continued collaboration. “We are facing challenges, but progress is being made,” he added, attributing recent successes against terrorism and banditry to a unified effort across the military branches.

Tinubu encouraged the service chiefs to maintain this synergy, noting, “The synergy among you has calmed the country, and we need that stability to continue. We need to assure all citizens that prosperity is not far from them.”

Lt. Gen. Oluyede expressed profound gratitude for the recognition, pledging to uphold the standards of the Nigerian Army and continue fostering peace nationwide.

He further committed to the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and outlined his dedication to ensuring the security and well-being of Nigerians.

Lt. Gen. Oluyede, commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Nigerian Army in 1992, has served in several operations, including the ECOMOG mission in Liberia, Operation Harmony IV in Bakassi, and Operation Hadin Kai in the North East.
