Tinubu Congratulates Trump on Re-election, Seeks Stronger Nigeria-US Ties

President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Donald Trump following his re-election as the 47th President of the United States.

Tinubu expressed his eagerness to deepen the relationship between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in the face of the complex challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu noted, “Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens.”

He also emphasized that Trump’s victory is a reflection of the trust and confidence the American people have placed in his leadership.

Tinubu further congratulated the people of the United States for their commitment to democracy, stating that the election results demonstrate the strength of democratic processes.

He expressed optimism that Trump’s re-election would usher in an era of strong and mutually beneficial economic partnerships between the US and Africa.

Given President Trump’s experience as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021, Tinubu believes his return to the White House as the 47th president will mark the beginning of a new phase in US-Africa relations.

The Nigerian leader added, “We trust that President Trump will bring the world closer to peace and prosperity, acknowledging the United States’ position in shaping global events.”
