• Commends INEC, Security Arrangements Ahead of Election
As Ondo State prepares for its off-cycle governorship election this Saturday, President Bola Tinubu has called on political stakeholders and voters to uphold peace, decorum, and their civic responsibilities, assuring them that they should exercise their rights without fear both before and after the election.
In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed confidence in the democratic process in Ondo, stressing that it should genuinely reflect the people’s will and their right to freely choose their leaders.
The President also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its careful preparation for the election, especially its timely distribution of sensitive election materials to all 18 local government areas in the state.
Tinubu further acknowledged the deployment of security forces to maintain peace during the election process, expressing his appreciation for the assurances from the Inspector-General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff.
He said security personnel would act professionally and adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act to ensure a credible election.
The President reminded political stakeholders, particularly candidates, that the people grant the privilege to govern, and this right must be respected.
He emphasized: “It is in the best interest of all Nigerians to ensure a free and fair election and consolidate the nation’s over 25 years of democratic governance.”
