The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken decisive action against unregistered food facilities in Rivers State, shutting down three bakeries and a sachet water factory in Port Harcourt.
According to a statement released on social media, the facilities were operating in “makeshift structures with poor hygiene standards, posing serious health risks to consumers.”
The bakeries, located in Rmuoparali and Mgbuoba areas, were found to be operating in unsanitary conditions, including the use of a generator inside the production room.
The State Coordinator of Rivers State, Onogwu, urged the public to continue providing valuable information to NAFDAC to facilitate the agency’s efforts to ensure the safety and quality of regulated products.
This crackdown comes after NAFDAC sealed 50 outlets in Kaduna State in April for selling edible oil under unhygienic conditions, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to protecting public health and safety.
