UNILAG: Tejuoso’s appointment well deserved – Gov. Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described the appointment of Senator Lanre Tejuoso as the Chairman Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) by the Federal Government as well thought out and deserving, saying it will bring greater developments to the higher institution of learning.

Governor Abiodun who made this assertion in his remarks, during the welcome dinner in honour of the Newly Appointed Governing Council of UNILAG, held at Tolu Odugbemi Hall of the institution in Lagos, added that he was optimistic that the institution was in for better days.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Abiodun said that Senator Lanre Tejuoso being a man of many parts and a school owner himself could be trusted to bring his vast wealth of experience, expertise, exposure and knowledge into the running of affairs of the University of Lagos.

Describing him as an illustrious son of the State, an Industrialist, a Royal Prince as well as a pride of the State, who had excelled in many fields of endeavours, the Governor noted that the University would begin to experience remarkable development, which would make it retain its position as one of the foremost University in Nigeria.

” The appointment of Senator Lanre Tejuoso is a well deserved one, a round peg has been put in a round hole, he is a leader that will direct well and uphold the policies of the University. Education is key to the development of any Nation, I am sure his wealth of experience which spans across many fields such as personal, business and political, will come to play throughout his tenure as Chairman Governing Council

Gov Abiodun, while pledging his support for the newly inaugurated Governing Council, assured that his government would take concrete steps to help ogun indigent students in the university community.

Earlier in his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, said the latest appointment of the University’s Governing Council will bring unrivalled developments to the institution as well as a relationship devoid of rancour amongst the various administrative levels of institution, promising to work hand in hand with them to ensure that University of Lagos retains its pride of place.
