The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ogun State, has rusticated 25 students and indefinitely suspended 58 others for various misconducts, including forgery, threats to life, examination malpractices, and other fraudulent activities.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the University’s Registrar, Mr. Dapo Oke, the disciplinary actions were based on recommendations from the Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee and were approved by the university’s Senate during its meeting on July 31, 2024.
The affected students have been instructed to stay away from the university premises.
The statement warned that any student who disregards this directive will face legal consequences and actions from the institution’s security personnel.
The statement highlighted specific cases, including a 200-level Computer Science student, Ojo Michael, who was rusticated for the 2023/2024 academic session due to forgery of CGPA to contest in Student Union Elections. Seventeen students were rusticated for examination malpractice, five for threats to life, and one for fraudulent acts.
Additionally, 47 students received indefinite suspensions for misconduct, while another ten were suspended for impersonation.
The statement also noted that other punishments were issued for various misconducts as recommended by the committee.
The affected students have been advised to avoid the campus to prevent any confrontation with University Security Personnel.
