Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu, Ijebu says it has commenced the running of degree programmes alongside business diversification initiatives aimed at ensuring self sustenance for the institution in its vision of producing 21st century education specialists, who will in turn contribute to national development.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Adeola Kiadese stated this while presenting the 2019 budget performance of the institution before members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology led by Hon. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan.
Kiadese explained that the institution had registered a consultancy services aimed at organising human capacity programmes including training and orientation for government primary and secondary schools teachers in the State, having collaborated with Olabisi Onabanjo University to run a degree affiliation programme likewise baking services and othe business ventures to boost revenue generation for the college.
The Provost, who lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun and the leadership of the Assembly for their intervention at restoring normalcy and academic activities in the institution, appreciated the State government for the constant payment of subvention to tertiary institutions in the State , with an appeal for increment to offset part of the outstanding arrears due to its members of staff.
In his remarks, Adeyemi lauded the ingenuity of the members of the Management of the institution with an admonition to them to further evolve measures at promoting quality service delivery reaffirming that the present administration was irrevocably committed to repositioning the educational sector for optimum performance.
Also, the members of the House Committee on Establishments and Public Service Matters led by Hon. Modupe Mujota, appraised the 2019 budget performance of the State Civil Service Commission which was presented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Amope Chokor.
