Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has delivered a scathing criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the fuel subsidy crisis, blaming the current administration for Nigeria’s economic challenges.
In a tweet posted on Thursday, Atiku expressed his displeasure with the approach taken by Tinubu’s government, describing it as “haphazard and disingenuous” in its management of the fuel subsidy issue. He argued that this flawed approach is responsible for the country’s ongoing economic troubles.
“The haphazard and disingenuous approach of the current administration to fuel subsidy management has been the reason we are in this current economic crisis in the country,” Atiku wrote.
The former vice president highlighted the impact of the government’s policies on inflation, warning that the rising cost of goods and services is only worsening the already dire living conditions of Nigerians.
He further expressed concern about the administration’s apparent lack of urgency in addressing the struggles faced by the populace. Atiku accused President Tinubu of remaining indifferent to the mounting hardship despite the severity of the economic situation.
“As things stand, there will be no let up in the escalating inflation rate, which is drowning the material well-being of Nigerians. It is even more worrying that T-pain is undisturbed by the hardship in the country,” Atiku added in his tweet.
Atiku’s statement underscores the growing frustration felt by many Nigerians, who continue to grapple with inflation, high fuel prices, and other economic challenges since the removal of the fuel subsidy.
