Finidi George has stepped down as the head coach of the Super Eagles, following a disappointing run of two games without a win.

His resignation comes after a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, leaving the team without a win in four games.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is currently exploring options for a new manager and considering reducing the head coach’s salary.

Despite the setbacks, NFF president Ibrahim Gusau remains optimistic about Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup, promising to work closely with the sports ministry and stakeholders to find a winning solution.

Finidi George’s departure marks a tumultuous period for the Super Eagles, with fans expressing mixed reactions to his resignation.

The search for a new coach is underway, with the NFF determined to turn things around and secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
