…As School Celebrates 40th Anniversary
St. John’s Anglican High School Old Students’ Association, Abeokuta recently elected new Officers to pilot the affairs of its National body for the next two years.
The election, which was keenly contested, was held at the school premises, Kuto, Abeokuta during general meeting of the Association.
The National President of the Association, Dr. Julius Soyinka while delivering his speech after the election, commended members for the high level of maturity displayed during the electoral process with the admonition that their commitment and contributions are pivotal to the growth and development of their alama mater. “It’s important for us to know that our commitment is critical in moving our school forward. Without St. John’s Anglican High School, all of us wouldn’t have been where and whom we are today, hence, it obligatory of us to give back to the school that moulded us”, he added.
St. John’s Anglican High School, Abeokuta is a public secondary school established in September 1980 by the then Ogun State Government and with this, the school will clock 40 years this month but due to the challenges faced by the Covid-19 pandemic, the celebration has been fixed for December 12, 2020 at the school premises, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
As part of the celebrations, a lot of activities have been lined up for the epoch-making occasion, these include Commissioning of Projects, Inter-School Quiz Competition, Anniversary Lecture and visit to the motherless babies home among others.
Members were, therefore, enjoined to contribute their quota by ensuring that the celebration is a hitch-free one.
The newly elected National Officers are Dr. Julius Soyinka, President; Mr. Kayode Dipeolu, Vice President I; Mr. Abiodun Shitu, Vice President II; Mrs. Yemisi Dada, General Secretary; Mr. Oluwatobi Olumuyiwa, Assistant General Secretary and Mr. Eyitayo Olufemi Jemiri, National Treasurer.
Others include Mr. ‘Femi Ayannuga, National New Media Officer I; Mr. Goke Ayinla, Financial Secretary; Mrs. Bunmi Baiyewu, Social Secretary; Mrs. Latifat Sodimu, Assistant Social Secretary; Mr. Nureni Bakenne, National New Media Officer II and Kehinde Soremi, Chief Whip.
