The people of Sapele were stunned and horrified by the murder of Mrs. Fatima Umukoro, the proprietress of His Majesty Group of Schools, allegedly committed by her son, Emmanuel Umukoro.

The incident occurred late on Saturday in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to reports, Emmanuel Umukoro is accused of killing his mother in the late hours of the evening. Neighbors and passersby described the scene as gruesome and distressing.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing Emmanuel driving out of the family compound at high speed around 8:30 p.m. in his mother’s car. This unusual behavior prompted neighbors to report the reckless driving to Mrs. Umukoro.

Upon arriving at the residence around 10 p.m., the neighbors noticed the gate was left open—another unusual occurrence.

They proceeded to investigate and discovered a fire burning inside the house with the door ajar. Upon entering, they found Mrs. Umukoro’s lifeless body, severely burned and unrecognizable.

The incident was promptly reported to the police. Emmanuel was later apprehended by the Police along the Sapele-Warri Road while attempting to flee to an unknown destination.

SP Bright Edafe, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and stated that the motive behind the alleged murder is still under investigation.
