Men of So Safe Corps in Ota, have arrested a commercial Tricyclist, Ridwan Lukman for allegedly raping a 14-year-old groundnut hawker in the Gangan roundabout area of Ota on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old man, who hails from Akito in Oyo State and live in Okede, Ota, was reportedly apprehended by men of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps in the wee hours of Wednesday where he was allegedly having a forceful and canal knowledge of the 14-year-old groundnut seller.
Ridwan, who claimed to have come to Ogun State in search of a better life, according to a confessional statement he made when he was apprehended, said he forcefully penetrated the girl.
Meanwhile, he denied having penetrations, but confessed to attempting same; while speaking with VOA News Correspondent.
“I bought groundnut from her and her colleague where I parked my Marwa and while I was attempting to pay her, I found out she was looking at me somehow. It then occurred to me that she may fancy me. So, I was trying to penetrate her when one man accosted us and asked what was happening. Thereafter, So Safe came and took me with them. I haven’t put my thing inside her yet”. He said.
The victim’s custodian, who is her uncle’s wife was also apprehended by So Safe and taken into custody. During a chat with VOA News Correspondent, she said that the victim told her about the incidence when she got home that night and she called a nurse to come examine and treat her.
On why, she was arrested by men of So Safe, she said, ‘they asked her to present the girl next day but she sent her to go retrieve money for the groundnut she sold the previous day and could not come with her to the station as advised.
It was gathered that the girl was penetrated after which the team of So Safe carried out a medical examination on her as against claim by Rilwan that he only attempted to penetrate her but did not succeed.
The suspect, as gathered ‘will be transferred to the Police Area command in Sango, Ota for further interrogations as efforts are currently ongoing to assist the victim get over the trauma’.
