The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has arrested three individuals in connection with a kidnapping case that resulted in the death of their victim.
The suspects, identified as Umar Muhammad (24), Audu Muhammad (22), and Umar Danda (22), are accused of murdering a 15-year-old boy, Yahu Muhammad, after demanding a ransom of N500,000.
According to a press statement released by the State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, the incident was reported on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at around 7:00 PM.
The report detailed that Yahu Muhammad was kidnapped while tending cattle in the Akara forest area. Despite the payment of the ransom, the kidnappers did not release the victim.
“The Imala Division of the So-Safe Corps received information about the kidnapping and promptly dispatched a Special Squad to rescue the victim”.
“However, upon reaching the kidnappers’ hideout at Olodo Karaoke along Anigbado-Idiemi road, the team discovered that the suspects had already killed the victim, despite having collected the ransom”, said Commander Ganzallo.
Ganzallo praised the Vigilante Group for their critical role in capturing the third suspect, Umar Danda.
He also confirmed that the victim’s body, along with the apprehended suspects, has been handed over to the Imala Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and potential prosecution.
“The loss of this young life is deeply regrettable, and our team, alongside the Vigilante Group, worked diligently to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice,” Ganzallo added.
The So-Safe Corps continues to urge the public to provide information on criminal activities to aid in the prevention and resolution of such crimes.
