SixthSense Initiative Honours Oba Matemilola, Prof. Soyinka at Summer Reading Camp

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE – The Seventh SixthSense Summer Children Reading Camp kicked off on Sunday, August 4th, and will run until Saturday, August 10th, 2024.

The camp’s opening ceremony, held on Monday, August 5th, at the BGC Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, was a huge success, featuring a 120-minute programme.

In a statement signed by Abiodun Laaile, Founder/Coordinator of the SixthSense Initiative said the camp, which aims to foster a love for reading among children and provide a supportive environment for literacy development, has attracted a large number of participants.

Laaile said this year’s edition has seen remarkable enthusiasm and engagement from the children.

According to the state, the official party will take place on Thursday, August 8th, honouring two distinguished individuals who have supported the initiative: HRM Oba Prof Saka Matemilola FNSE Otileta VII Olowu Oluyalo of Owu Kingdom Abeokuta and Nobel Laureate Professor Akinwande Oluwole Soyinka, who serves as the camp’s ambassador.

Meanwhile, Her Excellency Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Executive Governor of Ogun State, will be the Special Guest of Honour.

The celebration will feature readings, performances, and awards, commencing at 2:45 pm. All guests are invited to join the celebration.

The statement reads:

“The Seventh SixthSense Summer Children Reading Camp officially opened on Sunday, August 4th, and will run until Saturday, August 10th, 2024”.

“The camp aims to promote a love for reading among children and provide a supportive environment for them to develop their literacy skills”.

“This year’s edition has attracted a large number of participants, and the organisers are thrilled with the enthusiasm and engagement shown by the children so far”.

“This Thursday, August 8th, the camp will host its official party day, celebrating two distinguished individuals who have supported the initiative: HRM Oba Prof Saka Matemilola FNSE Otileta VII Olowu Oluyalo of Owu Kingdom Abeokuta and Nobel Laureate Professor Akinwande Oluwole Soyinka, who serves as the camp’s ambassador”.
