The Kaduna State Police Command, under Operation Fushin Kada, has successfully arrested several members of notorious criminal syndicates in various operations across the state.
Acting on credible intelligence, the team, led by SP Usman Namai Bindiga, made significant breakthroughs in tackling kidnapping, cattle rustling, and infrastructure vandalism.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Munsir Hassan, revealed that four suspects linked to a kidnapping syndicate operating in Rahama Village and Dutsen Wai Village were arrested.
The suspects, identified as Yahaya Abdullahi, Shamsu Ibrahim, Linus Obasi, and Hauwa Mohammed, all residents of Dutsen Wai Village, were apprehended after a well-coordinated operation.
ASP Hassan stated:
“During interrogation, Yahaya Abdullahi confessed to conspiring with Shamsu Ibrahim to kidnap a female victim from Rahama Village. The victim was taken to Linus Obasi’s brothel in Dutsen Wai Village, where she was handed over to Hauwa Mohammed, the caretaker.”
The victim was held captive for four days until her family paid a ransom of ₦3,000,000. She has since been reunited with her family, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other syndicate members and recover operational weapons.
In a separate operation on November 6, 2024, Fushin Kada operatives tracked and arrested two members of another kidnapping syndicate in Ikara Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Surajo Hassan and Abdulhadir Usman, confessed to multiple armed robberies and kidnappings, including a recent case where a victim was held for 60 days before being released after a ransom of ₦8,000,000 was paid.
“The suspects admitted to receiving ₦1,000,000 each as their share of the ransom. Investigations are ongoing to arrest their accomplices,” ASP Hassan noted.
On November 13, 2024, police apprehended a 27-year-old suspect, Audu Abdullahi, in Kujama. Preliminary investigations revealed his involvement in a cattle rustling syndicate.
The suspect confessed to using two AK-47 rifles and other weapons in their operations. A search operation in a nearby bush led to the recovery of a locally made firearm and charms used by the group. Efforts are underway to track down his accomplices.
Operation Fushin Kada also responded to a distress call from the Kaduna State Vigilance Service about suspicious activities at the Kaduna State Trade Fair Complex. Officers arrested three suspects—Salisu Mohammed, Mohammed Abubakar, and Aliyu Isah—caught vandalizing armoured cable wires.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to being part of a syndicate specializing in cable theft and implicated two receivers, Abubakar Garba and Isiaku Abdullahi, who were later apprehended in Malalin Gabas and Rigasa.
ASP Hassan assured that all suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Abdullahi, commended the officers’ efforts, stating:
“The Kaduna State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting public infrastructure and ensuring the safety of citizens across the state.”
The Command urged residents to report suspicious activities to aid its mission of eradicating crime in Kaduna State.
