Apostle Lawrence Achudume of Victory Life Bible Church Int’l, has sounded the alarm on the destructive power of backbiting within the Christian community, urging believers to surrender this toxic behavior and embrace total obedience to God.
Preaching at Victory Cathedral, Ajebo Road, Abeokuta, Ogun State , this Sunday, Apostle Achudume exposed the dangers of those who engage in backbiting, gossiping, and bitterness, branding them as “ungodly” and “spiritually unfit.”
He emphasized that these behaviors hinder personal relationships with God and undermine the unity and strength of the Christian community.
Achudume stressed that total obedience to God requires surrendering all aspects of life, including speech and behavior. “By surrendering to God’s will, just as Abraham did, Christians can experience the same level of blessing and fulfillment that Abraham enjoyed,” he said.
The cleric encouraged believers to focus on God’s strength from above (Philippians 4:13) and depend solely on God, promising that total obedience would lead to lasting prosperity and a fulfilling life. “God is a covenant keeper who will not shortchange anyone who truly serves and obeys Him,” Achudume declared.
By silencing the spirit of backbiting and embracing total obedience, believers can unlock God’s blessings and experience a life of purpose and fulfillment, Achudume emphasized.
Achudume also drew lessons from Abraham’s walk with God, highlighting God’s faithfulness to His promises even when they seem delayed. “We must trust in God’s faithfulness and sovereignty, even when our circumstances seem contrary to His promises. God is always working behind the scenes to bring about His perfect will in our lives.” By embracing this truth, believers can cultivate unwavering trust and obedience, just like Abraham, and experience the fullness of God’s blessings in their lives.
