Aliyu Suleiman FC/19A/4188, who was hit by a stray bullet on his way to work during the face-off between protesters of Islamic Movement of Nigeria and the police has been discharged from the hospital.
The Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim while receiving Suleiman in his office was thankful to God for sparing his life.
He pledged that NYSC Management will offset his medical bills and monitor his post-discharge health condition.
Before leaving the National Hospital, Abuja, The Chairman, NYSC FCT Governing Governing Board, Hajiya Safiya Umar, who was represented by Director of Youth Development, Mrs Hajarat Ayandele visited the victim and presented a token for his welfare.
She appreciated God for saving the Corps Member while she wished him quick recovery.
Hajiya Umar also advised other serving Corps Members to be vigilant at all times as they discharge their statutory responsibilities.
NYSC FCT Coordinator, Hajiya Walida Siddique commended the National Hospital Abuja for its effective service delivery in saving the victim’s life while in distress.
Recounting his ordeal, Aliyu said, ”We heard gunshots close to us, while our driver was about to turn, I couldn’t feel my arm, it was then I realised that I was hit by a bullet and I immediately notified my CDS Officer, Mrs Adama Anabel who called the attention of the NYSC FCT Management on the incident”.
Suleiman Aliyu expressed gratitude to God, NYSC, NYSC FCT Governing Board and National Hospital Abuja for coming to his aid as well as the free medical treatments he had received.
Before the incident, Aliyu was a serving Corps Member with Leadership Newspaper, Abuja.
He has been redeployed to his home State for for post-discharge medicare and proper monitoring.
