Shi’ites Kill 2 Policemen, Injure 3 in Abuja Clash

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), better known as Shi’ites, have have killed two policemen and injured three others in Abuja.

The brawl occurred on Sunday at the Wuse area of the federal capital territory (FCT) during the Arba’een symbolic trek observed by IMN members.

The Spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command Josephine Adeh, in a statement, confirmed the Incident and said members of the group attacked and killed two officers.

The police spokesperson added that three officers were rushed to the hospital for medical attention after the incident but are still unconscious.

She added that three Police patrol vehicles were set ablaze during the unfortunate incident adding that, members of the group wielded machetes, improvised explosive devices (locally made bombs in bottles with kerosene), and knives.
Adeh said several arrests have been made, adding that normalcy has returned to the area.

As of the time of this report, a press conference has been scheduled for 4pm by the inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun at the Force Headquarters.
