ABEOKUTA – The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu has promised to partner the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ogun State Chapter to ensure the success of forthcoming National Festival tagged ‘Gateway Games 2024″.
Senator Salisu gave the promise while addressing the sports journalists at the birthday ceremony of the Executive chairman of Obafemi Owode Local government, Hon. Adesina Ogunsola held in Abeokuta.
The lawmaker who described the partnership with Sports Writers as crucial to the overall development of sports in the country encouraged them to do everything within their power to ensure that the biennial event in Ogun State becomes a force to be reckoned with.
Salisu who underscores the importance of Sports as a tool for youths empowerment, maintained that the association must begin to create more awareness about the preparedness of the state government.
He, however, assured that, he would create a window of entertainment and engagement for the youths during the festival as the Senator representing Ogun Central.
“I’m going to do something with SWAN to see what we can do in central to support the National Sports Festival, but we must have a window in Ogun Central to see what we can do. I am promising you that, I’m going to partner with you to see what we can do with you. It is your pride that the NSF is successful, Salisu charges SWAN
“If there’s anything you believe I can do and also serve as an interface between you and the government of the state in order to make the event very memorable, please don’t hesitate.
“Because at the end of day for you as Sports writers as well, your pride will be that the best organized national sports festival takes place in our state, in a state where you are practicing your trade, so don’t let us wait for whatever the shortcomings to now begin to report and do analysis that we’re doing low levels, in fact, let us be proactive enough.
“In fact , if you have a position paper to say this is the position of Sports Writers of Nigeria on how to make the NSF a success, write it and let me have it, I promise to pass it across to the governor.”
