The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has pledged neutrality and professionalism from security agencies assigned to oversee the Ondo State governorship election on Saturday.
Speaking in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Thursday, General Musa reassured stakeholders, including voters, of a peaceful and well-managed election process.
General Musa, who was in Ondo State under President Bola Tinubu’s directives, explained that his visit aimed to assess the coordination among security agencies ahead of the November 16 election.
He emphasized that the president’s mandate was to ensure the state is thoroughly secured, allowing the electorate to vote in an atmosphere of peace and stability.
Highlighting the importance of professionalism, General Musa urged the security forces to uphold the standards displayed during the recent Edo State governorship election.
“We want to sustain peace and ensure that this is the best election in Ondo State,” he stated, commending the agencies for their past conduct and urging them to replicate it in Ondo.
“As security agencies, we are working together as a team, and Ondo State has been a very peaceful place,” he continued. “We want to appeal to all Nigerians, especially the good people of Ondo State, to come out en-masse to vote for whom they want.”.
“Nobody will intimidate the electorate, and security forces are working like a team. We are one family of Nigerians.”
