The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in conjunction with Ogun State Government is set to hold an Ogun State Security Conference tagged, “Gateway Secure Confab ’22” with the theme: “Security; A Collective Responsibility”.
The Confab aimed to enhance security in the state and beyond is scheduled to hold from Tuesday 26th to Thursday 28th April, 2022 at Olusgun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Commandant, Civil Defence College of Security Management, NSCDC, Dr. Awosusi Rachael made this known during a press conference recently held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
She said that the Confab will provide platform for security agencies, experts, traditional leaders, security students financial organizations among others to deliberate on security issues affecting Ogun State.
She said, “the Confab is dedicated to create meeting point for security operatives and the public to air their views on security challenges rocking the society and to also showcase various elements of security developments for investment where collaboration between governments, private sector, developmental partners, business owners and the public”.
“It is when there’s is stability that the economy will grow and that’s when we can have good relationship with international body, but where there is crisis and insecurities, there’s will be problem and this will affect the economy and well-being of the people”.
“The Confab will feature paper presentation on security challenges, exhibition of local and international companies, state and country, gala night among others”, she added.
While speaking at the press conference, a Security Consultant and Project Coordinator, Dare Oginni stated that the 3-day Security Confab is expected to create enabling and conducive environment for best professional practice and ethics among stakeholders, and to also create strong partnership and interaction between private and public sector.
“We are bringing together all security architecture in the country represented in the state including the Army, Air Force, Police, Civil Defence, Vigilantes, Nigeria Customs Services, Immigration, NDLEA, Road Safety, Intelligence Community among others to build synergy and come up with a type of strategy to work together and combat insecurity in the state.
On his part, a Community Leader and Security Consultant, Asiwaju Dapo Wahab pointed out that the Confab will help provide solution to the high rate of security challenges facing Ogun State communities.
He said, “The biggest issues affecting Ogun State communities today is the high rate of kidnapping, ritual killings, internet frauds among youths and various cult activities”.
“I believe with this conference, it will throw more lights into security challenges that have been facing the people most especially in the grassroots”, he concluded.
