A house owner in Sango area of Ogun State, Mr. Tajudeen Bolajoko has appealed to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun to come to his aid following persistent dumping of rituals at the front of his gate by suspected Egungun worshippers.

Bolajoko while lamenting that Egungun worshippers have turned his house to shrine, expressed concern over security of his family.

He complained that he and his family now live in panic and anxiety as they fear they could be attacked spiritually by the Egungun adherents.

Egungun is a deity with a colourful dress, it is one of the greatest divinities in the land of Yoruba. Egungun in the broadest sense is any Yoruba masquerade or masked, costumed figure.

It is one of the deity with the largest followers in Yorubaland and Africa at large.

Bolajoko who insisted his family background has no connection with the diety, revealed that the former owner of the house, Olusegun Emmanuel Oladosu came from Egungun lineage.

The house owner explained that the Egungun worshippers were bringing the rituals to his house thinking the building still belong to Oladosu.

Recalled that Oladosu had raised the alarm over an alleged attempts by his family to forced him to step into the shoes of his father as the leader of Egungun deity.

Oladosu had alleged that despite resistance, his family led by one of his uncles identified as Chief Apena has allegedly continued to harass, molest and threaten him.

He also insisted that the family was allegedly responsible for the death of his elder brother who reportedly died mysteriously after his refusal to join the worship of the deity.

Oladosu who claimed his father was one of the foremost leader of deity in Africa before his death, added that his uncle alongside some other family members allegedly attacked him with charms and thugs.

He also said his house was ransacked, and his properties were destroyed.

This, however, made Oladosu sold his house to Bolajoko and relocated his family abroad for security concerns.

Bolajoko who is the new house owner complained that the family has not detest from dropping rituals at the gate.

He also claimed his family do have nightmares and different unknown things happened around them.

He added, “The governor and good people of Ogun State should come to my aid. I have not been able to sleep peacefully since I got to this place.

“It is from one problem to another. I don’t know why they are still dumping rituals and charms here. I did not belong to their family, but they are not making us live in peace.

“My wife is threatening to move out with my kids if we don’t find solution to it.

“How will someone use money to buy house and will be faced with this kind of challenges. I am exhausted and tired of these people.

“It is becoming life threatening and I can’t cope any longer. Something need to be done to this and I am appealing to the government to help us out. It is not by force to join Egungun, there is freedom of religion for God’s sake.”
