The General Manager, Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), Tpl. Kehinde Osinaike, has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the release of 20 operational vehicles to the Agency.
Osinaike gave the commendation recently while taking delivery of the vehicles in Ikeja, noting that the gesture was a manifestation of the Governor’s promise and determination to support LASPPPA towards the implementation of her mandate of sustaining physical development in Lagos State.
He stated that the vehicles will enhance monitoring and enforcement duties and other functions of the Authority, adding that it would also ensure the extension of Physical Planning laws to the grassroots towards correcting the haphazard developments common in rural areas.
The General Manager revealed that the Agency has in recent times embarked on initiatives aimed at improving the turnaround time of processing planning permits, attracting more property owners to apply for Physical Planning Permits as well as sensitisation campaigns for the development of good relationships with stakeholders and human capacity building programmes, among others.
Reiterating that the strategies were all geared towards the repositioning of LASPPPA for better service delivery, Osinaike expressed delight in the progress realised so far as a result of the implementation of the initiatives and reforms.
He also submitted that the procurement and effective use of the new vehicles will improve the services of the Authority at regulating physical developments for the overall socio-economic benefits of the good people of Lagos State.
Tpl. Osinaike further disclosed that the Authority has increased the number of her District Offices from 30 to 40 recently, saying “The effort is geared towards taking Physical Planning to the grassroots and the procurement of the vehicles will enhance this drive”.
While assuring that the vehicles will be deployed for the appropriate purpose, Osinaike thanked the Lagos State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola; Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl (Dr) Idris Salako; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban Development, Mr. Ganiu Ayuba; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands and Physical Planning, Tpl (Dr.) Babajide Babatunde and the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Mrs. Biola Koshegbe for their contribution towards the release of the vehicles.
