Sanwo-Olu, Fadugba, Others Bag NUJ Award

Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has bagged the Outstanding Governor of the Year Award, just as Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly emerged as the Oustanding Speaker of a State Assembly at the Y2021 Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Gala/Awards held in Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of Lagos State Council of the NUJ, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, said Governor Sanwo-Olu was nominated because his administration recorded landmark achievements in the area of Transportation and Traffic Management, Health and Environment, Education and Technology, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, Entertainment and Tourism and in the Security and Governance sectors.

Ajayi said, “It is also on record that the Lagos State Government, under his leadership as the Incident Commander, battled the three waves of COVID-19 pandemic with huge success. He equally handled the EndSARS protests by directly engaging the youths and taking their case to President Muhammadu Buhari”.

The NUJ Chairman also stated that Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Obasa emerged as Outstanding Speaker of a State Assembly because he has “promoted a harmonious relationship between the Executive and the Legislative Arms of government, thereby impacting on the smooth running of governance by the Sanwo-Olu administration.

His words: “The House of Assembly under his leadership has also enacted a good number of bills into law, which empowered the Executive to undertake massive infrastructure development, citizens’ empowerment and address public health issues, especially the COVID-19, among others”.

Others honoured at the event include the founder of Love of Christ Generation Church, C&S; Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi, the CEO of Air Peace; Mr Allen Onyema, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, former Chairman of NUJ Lagos Council; Mrs. Olufunke Fadugba and NUJ President. Chief Chris Isiguzo.

Ajayi also lauded telecommunication giant, Airtel Networks, Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, LIRS, Dangote Group of Companies, Sifax Group and other organisations for their support that made the week-long event a success.
